Ungap the Map! Prioritize preservation of a key differentiator in The Ozarks: our access to, and integration of, the outdoors in our cities. Whether for recreation or transporation, these vital networks will develop a more walkable, bikable, and healthy region, while also making future development less disruptive because the greenways will be connected.
Most rivers and lakes in urban centers are either unclean for recreation, or are privately owned and inaccessible for the public. Southwestern Missouri has so many rivers and lakes - the preservation of clean and publicly accessible waterways promotes awareness of sustainability and appreciation for the outdoors.
In a digital world, destinations that are visually distinct from other places have an advantage when attracting business, talent, and tourism. Let’s lean into our local design vernacular dubbed, Ozarkitecture, so anyone can look around and recognize when they are in The Ozarks.
The Ozarks has so many mom-and-pop stores and independently owned shops. It makes the region authentic and creative. Incentivizing chain corporations to build near highways, while incentivizing and prioritizing the city for local businesses will provide more opportunities for residents to pursue upward economic mobility and attract more startup founders.
